Spirulina (or spirulina platensis) is blue-green algae, rich in antioxidants, essential amino acids and omega-3 fatty acids and many nutrients, including B vitamins and iron. Within skincare, preliminary studies on spirulina extract have shown its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits can result in brighter and more hydrated skin.
