Comedones are small, skin-coloured bumps. A type of acne (comedonal acne), they are formed due to pores being blocked with oil, dead skin cells and bacteria.
There are two main types of comedones: open comedones (blackheads) and closed comedones (whiteheads). This type of acne more commonly affects people with oily skin.
